Pilots for Christ in Monroeville is raising money to buy two new airplane propellers.

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – With life-threatening illnesses like cancer, patients are often forced to travel long distances to seek treatment.

For people who live in rural areas, that help often comes from above. Flying to-and-from appointments on commercial flights can get expensive, and it can be dangerous especially if a patient is immune compromised.

One nonprofit air service, Pilots for Christ, is standing in the gap. Located in Monroeville, PFC was founded 30 years ago. Since then, PFC has flown hundreds of caregivers and their patients to and from doctor’s appointments at major hospitals for free. PFC’s Ashley Pharr says it’s a sacrifice worth making.
