Council plans Labor Day parade through downtown Mobile
Pilots for Christ, a Monroeville-based nonprofit that provides free air transportation for patients in need, is accepting donations in September through the annual Sirmon Sunnies Sunflower Project at Sirmon Farms, 25359 County Road 54 East in Daphne. This year’s donations will be in memory of friend Rucker T. Taylor III, who died in May 2025 after a battle with cancer. Rucker traveled many times for treatment at MD Anderson in Houston with help from Pilots for Christ. The public is invited to walk through sunflower fields and gather sunflowers free of charge. Donation boxes are placed throughout the farm, with every dollar going to Pilots for Christ. Last year’s Sunflower Project raised more than $10,000.
